Overview

What Is a TIFF File?

TIFF (Tagged Image File Format, also .tif) is a flexible raster image format that supports multiple pages, various compression schemes, and high bit depth. It is widely used for scanned documents, photography, and archival imaging.

Our free TIFF Viewer decodes TIFF files entirely on your device. Multi-page TIFFs are fully supported: you can see the page count, switch between pages with Previous/Next or a thumbnail strip, and view dimensions and color depth (RGBA 8-bit) for the current page. Your data never leaves your device — nothing is uploaded.

Use the viewer to open .tiff or .tif files on any device without installing image software, to quickly preview a multi-page scan, or to inspect TIFF images for work or compliance — with your data staying on your device at all times.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about the TIFF Viewer

Q1. What is a TIFF file?
TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) is a flexible raster image format that supports multiple pages, compression, and high bit depth. It is commonly used for scans, photography, and document imaging.
Q2. Do you upload my TIFF file?
No. The TIFF Viewer processes your file entirely on your device. Your data is never sent to our servers.
Q3. Which TIFF variants are supported?
The viewer supports many common TIFF and BigTIFF variants. Some exotic compression or pixel formats may not decode; you'll see an error in that case.
Q4. Can I zoom or pan?
The current viewer shows the image at its natural size within a scrollable area. Zoom and pan could be added in a future update.
Q5. Does it work on mobile?
Yes. You can open the TIFF Viewer on a phone or tablet and select a .tiff or .tif file. Very large files may use a lot of memory.
Q6. Is the TIFF Viewer free?
Yes. The tool is free to use with no sign-up and no limits.
Q7. Why does my TIFF show wrong colors?
Some TIFFs use different color spaces or palettes. We render decoded RGBA data as-is. Unusual color space or ICC profile handling may produce different results than desktop software.
Q8. Can I download or convert the image?
This viewer is read-only. It displays the decoded image but does not provide download or conversion. You can use a separate tool to save or convert the file.
