Overview

What Is Rotate PDF?

Rotating a PDF means turning some or all of its pages by 90°, 180°, or 270° so they display and print in the correct orientation. Pages may have been scanned sideways, exported from another tool with the wrong orientation, or created in portrait when you need landscape (or the reverse). A PDF rotator lets you fix this without re-creating the document: you load the PDF, set the rotation for each page or for the whole file, and download a new PDF with the corrected orientation.

Rotation is applied to the actual page content and metadata, so the result is a proper PDF that opens correctly in any viewer or printer. At OnlinePCTools, rotation is done entirely on your device. Your file is never sent anywhere; you open it, apply the rotations you want, and download the updated PDF, keeping your documents private and under your control.

Rotate PDF pages with full control and zero quality loss—all on your device

Rotate All or Per Page

Apply the same rotation to the entire document with one click, or set rotation for each page individually so only the pages that need it are changed. Mix and match orientations in a single PDF.

90°, 180°, and 270° Rotation

Rotate pages 90 degrees clockwise or counterclockwise, or 180 degrees for upside-down pages. Multiple 90° clicks on the same page combine (e.g. 90° twice equals 180°).

No Quality Loss

Rotation is applied to the PDF structure and content; it does not re-encode images or flatten text. The result remains sharp and editable where the original allowed.

Instant Preview of Rotation State

Each page shows its current rotation (e.g. 0°, 90°, 180°) so you can see what will be applied before downloading. Adjust until every page is correct.

100% Private & Secure

Your PDF is processed entirely on your device. Nothing is sent anywhere, so your documents stay private and secure. Works on any device.

No Registration

Use the tool without creating an account. Open the page, upload your PDF, set rotations, and download—no sign-up or subscription required. Free and unlimited.

Questions from users and answers from the OnlinePCTools team

I scanned a 20-page document and half the pages came out sideways. Can I fix only those pages without rotating the rest?

SM

Sarah Mitchell

Office Manager, London, UK

Yes. Use the per-page rotation buttons next to each page number. Rotate only the pages that are sideways (e.g. pages 3, 5, 7) and leave the others as they are. The tool shows the current rotation for each page so you can verify before applying. Click Apply Rotation when done and download your corrected PDF.

Does rotating a PDF reduce quality or change the file in any way besides orientation?

JW

James Wu

Architect, Singapore

No. Rotation is applied to the PDF's page structure and content; it does not re-compress images or flatten text. The rotated PDF should look the same as the original, just in a different orientation. Fonts, vectors, and images remain intact.

My PDF is password-protected. Can I rotate it with this tool?

ER

Elena Rodriguez

Legal Assistant, Madrid, Spain

The tool cannot open or modify PDFs that are password-protected or restricted. Use our PDF Unlocker tool first to remove the password, then use the Rotate PDF tool. Your file is never uploaded—both tools process everything on your device.

— OnlinePCTools Team

I need to rotate every page 180 degrees (upside down). Is that possible?

DP

David Park

Teacher, Seoul, South Korea

Yes. Use the Rotate All 180° button to turn every page upside down in one click. If you only need some pages flipped, use the 180° button next to those specific page numbers instead. You can combine 90° and 180° on different pages in the same document.

Use Cases

Use Cases

Common scenarios where rotating PDF pages saves time and fixes orientation

Fixing Scanned Documents

Correct pages that were scanned sideways or upside down. Rotate only the affected pages or the whole document so the PDF reads and prints in the right orientation.

Landscape vs Portrait

Convert a PDF that was exported as landscape (or portrait) to the orientation you need for submission, printing, or presentation without re-creating the source file.

Mixed-Orientation PDFs

When some pages are portrait and others landscape by mistake, use per-page rotation so every page has the correct orientation in one consistent document.

Forms and Submissions

Ensure PDFs submitted to employers, schools, or government portals have all pages right-side up and correctly oriented to avoid rejection or delays.

Printing and Archiving

Prepare PDFs for printing or archiving by rotating any pages that would otherwise print or display sideways or upside down, saving paper and improving clarity.

Reports and Presentations

Fix PDFs exported from design tools, spreadsheets, or presentation software that ended up in the wrong orientation. One quick rotation and the document is ready to share.

FAQ

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the Rotate PDF tool

Q1. Is rotating a PDF free?
Yes. The Rotate PDF tool on OnlinePCTools is free. You can rotate as many PDFs as you like, with no page limit and no need to create an account or sign in.
Q2. Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. Rotation is performed entirely on your device. Your PDF is read and processed privately and is never sent anywhere, so your documents stay safe and secure.
Q3. Can I rotate only some pages?
Yes. Use the per-page rotation buttons to rotate only the pages you want. Other pages keep their current orientation. You can also use Rotate All first and then adjust individual pages if needed.
Q4. What rotation angles are supported?
You can rotate by 90° clockwise, 90° counterclockwise, or 180°. Applying 90° more than once on the same page effectively gives 180° or 270° (e.g. 90° twice = 180°).
Q5. Does rotation reduce quality?
No. Rotation is applied to the PDF's page structure and content; it does not re-compress images or flatten text. The rotated PDF should look the same as the original, just in a different orientation.
Q6. Can I rotate password-protected PDFs?
No. The tool cannot open or modify PDFs that are password-protected or restricted. Unlock the PDF first (e.g. with our PDF Unlocker tool), then use the Rotate PDF tool.
Q7. How do I rotate a PDF 270 degrees?
Rotate 90° counterclockwise three times on the same page, or use the counterclockwise 90° button until the page shows 270°. The tool tracks cumulative rotation per page.
Q8. Will the rotated PDF have a different file size?
File size typically stays very similar. Rotation updates the PDF's internal page transformation; it does not re-encode or re-compress content, so the output size is usually close to the original.
